Hello!
I've a quite simple question, but i havn't found any solution yet.
Is there any native client in linux which can actually handle microsoft exchange wich does not require Outlook Web Access for working?
Doesn't matter if the solution is commertial or non commertial...
It's not really great to have the need to install wine and outlook using wine for this...

You know I'm not sure there is. I listened to LUGRadio the other day and they went to MS for a day and bitched at them about this.

I think Evolution is the closest to support most Exchange stuff.

I think Evolution is the closest to support most Exchange stuff.
From the Evolution manual (p77):
"IMPORTANT: Evolution Exchange works only with Exchange 2000 and later, and requires that Outlook Web
Access be enabled. Each user needs a valid Microsoft Exchange server account, including a license."
The OP wants native Exchange support rather than through OWA.

What part of the Exchange do you need to access?
Mail: If it's only mail you can just use an IMAP/POP client (if the Exchange server has been enabled to support that)
Contacts: should be avaliable through 'standard' LDAP. I've seen a few howtos laying around.
Calendar: I have no idea, probable not.
In other words, working with an exchange server from linux (or windows because outlook sucks ass) sucks.
Cheers,
BTW I don't think it's possible to run Outlook through Wine (or Crossover).

What seems quite impossible. OWA isn't enabled at all on the server...

You can check this out...
http://www.omesc.com/modules/main_module/
It doesn't require OWA, but it does require a brutus server running on the exchange server.

That will require alot of communication and a load on bureaucracy until i'll have that available in my company .
Though, a very good alternative which i didn't know about. Thank you for the reply, that gave me some hope.
