Re: cheops or cheops-ng

Telling what they are and providing a link would be helpful.

Just as a matter of basic manners. If you can be bothered to post a request, you can be bothered to type up what it is.

For those who may be in the dark (admittedly, probably not many), these are network management utilities:

Cheops
Cheops-ng

Where's the logic there? Maybe one couldn't? maybe the person has spent the whole afternoon trying to build a package but failed and then gets pissed of and posts like this. Could we blame him? Saying "Telling what they are and providing a link would be helpful." take as long time as going on google and checking out the appname if time is the criteria.

Iv'e seen msg like this posted many times and i've thougth it is elite and snobbish. I'm not saying i'm right, i'm just saying what i've felt.

Re: cheops or cheops-ng

Thanks for the links, Gullible.  This was shocking to learn about.  Have been using Nagios and only Nagios for a few years.  (Was not aware of Cheops.)

Anyone used Cheops AND Nagios enough to offer a fair comparrison?

EDIT: I see both packages are old -- possibly no longer maintained.  Oh well.
