Setting up Fingerprint on Arch.

I have installed Arch Linux on my USB. I use it on a Lenovo Ideapad 520 which has a built in fingerprint reader. I tried fingerprint-gui, fpintd and thinkfinger. All of them are not detecting my fingerprint reader. Is there any drivers that I need to install.

Re: Setting up Fingerprint on Arch.

There is a good chance that this laptop uses a device that has no linux driver yet.

There has been some work done in reverse engineering the protocol, but that seems to have stalled.

Look for the id of your fingerprint reader with lsusb. If you find the id of your fingerprint reader in that github page, you are currently out of luck.

Re: Setting up Fingerprint on Arch.

Yet another excellent reminder that biometrics are wonderful replacements for usernames, but awful replacements for passphrases.

All the best,
