No disk (other than my usb) showing up in gdisk

Some info:

I'm quite new to this.

I'm trying to dual boot arch and windows on an alienware m15 r2 that came out recently, with archlinux-2019.08.01-x86_64.iso on a usb (GPT).

I resized windows C partition so that I have ~500 GB available space on SSD.

After selecting my usb from the boot options, I am able to get to the arch console. From this point on I cannot detect my disks on which I want to install arch.

Running fdisk -l only gives my USB Disk as /dev/sda. Similarly, gdisk -l /dev/sda gives info about my usb disk only. Any help is appreciated!

What disk? If it's an nvme disk, they usually have issues when they are in RAID mode, check your UEFI on whether you can switch that to AHCI

nvme indeed. I switched to AHCI and two nvme disks did show up in fdisk -l. Thanks!!

One minor issue is that my windows 10 no longer boots normally after this change. I tried changing to safe mode but it still doesn't boot. Is there any way I could avoid reinstalling windows? (Switching back to RAID in bios still allows windows to boot)

Nope, afraid not.

If you want to be able to dual boot then you'll have to reinstall Windows in AHCI mode instead (without fakeRAID).

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Afaik and if google is anything to go by, there should be a way to make Windows load up AHCI drivers instead without the need for a reinstall. Though I've not looked into it in any relevant depth.
