Hi all. Recently upgraded my system with x470 gaming 7 from gigabyte, ryzen 3700X on it, radeon RX5700XT and monitor LG 32GK650F-B
The problem reproduces when simply open a game, for example "dota2", in the main menu, when move mouse appear a terribly stutter also in-game without moving mouse but lighter. also tested in vulkan and opengl with exact same result.
I have tested in "two point hospital" who this heavy stutter even prevent the game load the main menu but if I deactivate freesync option in the monitor's OSD this terribly stutter is gone, same for all games.
I'm running kernel 5.2.0-rc5-amd-git cause compatibility for gpu, using KDE plasma 5.16.4 and monitor configured in system-settings to use at 144Hz refresh rate. using amdgpu 19.0.1-1, mesa-git 19.2.0_devel.113971.74470baebbd-1 and llvm-git 10.0.0_r324555.a560bbf7a03-1
As additional info, i had to say this monitor have two freesync modes: basic, and extended. in basic mode is a bit soft stutter but its clearly visible. same effect if i reduce the refresh rate in system-settings/monitor.
Any of you having this issue? any idea to find what is failing are welcome. sorry if I miss some important info.

Hello, I have not purchased a FreeSync monitor yet but have done a lot of research in anticipation of getting one so I will see if I can help.
Can you try doing these things:
Disable vsync in game.
If you have multiple monitors try disabling the others before starting the game.
Kwin compositor should disable itself before the game starts but try disabling it before with alt shift f12.

ty for reply.
I have tested that. with freesync enabled on monitor side and Xorg configuration side with
Option "VariableRefresh" "true"
Dota2 in vulkan and OpenGL both tested with/without vsync makes no sense.
Disabling composior at startup, then restart and try dota2 with same results = hard stuttering
Even try to enable/disable vsync in Xorg config file with
Option "TearFree" "true"
Option "TearFree" "false"
makes no difference.
If you want me to do some more test, don't hesitate to say it and thanks for your help.

I would try changing your performance level. To see if it makes a difference.
You could also try passing the kernel parameter "amdgpu.dc=0" to see if that makes a difference. Documentation on that here: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ … pu-dc.html
Maybe this is a bug, but I wish you luck with your troubleshooting. I can't think of anything else to try.

Trying to find any power_dpm folder under /sys/class/drm/ but nothing related found on any of these subfolders so cant try to force pstate of the GPU to performance
On kernel parameter, I have tested it editing kernel params before kernel load, adding
admgpu.dc=0
but unfortunately this prevents KDE loading and ofc didn't reach GUI to test anything.
thankyou for trying to help

there is an example of how issue looks like.
recorded with obs-studio who do not show the stuttering in mouse pointer too.

solved adding
Option "SWCursor" "true"
in "Device" section to 20-amdgpu.conf
