After update, x11vnc 5 seconds delay, sometimes freezes

Hi,

I have two PC's running ArchLinux with XFCE (everything up to date). One of them is mostly operated via VNC (x11vnc, Remmina), bur also has a screen connected to it.

Since I updated on 2019-08-20, x11vnc became so slow that it's practically unusable: Screen updates (switching windows, typing something, ...) will show up on Remmina after nearly 5 seconds. When I place the screens of my computers so I can see the both at once, I can see that the original screen displays everything immediately. Only the display on Remmina is delayed. However, there are a few things I can see on Remmina without delay:

  • Everything on the lockscreen (xflock) - includeing the switch between the lockscreen and the desktop.

  • The shape of the mouse pointer changes immediately on Remmina when I move the mouse to a place where I can resize a window.

Sometimes, the display on Remmina freezes completely. In these cases, it shows the latest screen update it could get. This means, when I lock the computer and unlock it again, I'll get one screen content.

There are no other networking issues, e.g. rsync between the computers works at normal speed.

I've tried a few things:

  • Connecting to x11vnc from a borrowed laptop running Ubuntu 18.04 with an older version of Remmina. Same result, so it's not a Remmina issue.

  • Connecting to x11vnc on a virtual machine also running ArchLinux XFCE up-to-date. Works flawlessly, so only one PC is affected.

x11vnc is started with these options:

x11vnc -display :0.0 -no6 -noipv6 -skip_lockkeys -noxdamage

There is one big difference between the computers: The affected one has intel graphics. An indeed, the xf86-video-intel package was included in the update, but not x11vnc. This is the complete list:

Any other ideas ?

Re: After update, x11vnc 5 seconds delay, sometimes freezes

Well ... I just tried downgrading xf86-video-intel to the previous version. Unfortunately no success.
