I am having trouble with my getting my fan to work.
Even at high temperatures when my laptop is very hot to touch, it's not running.
I've been using fan speed control, lm_sensors page of Archwiki and the forum posts for guidance.
Here's the output of `sensors`:
nouveau-pci-0a00
Adapter: PCI adapter
GPU core: +0.60 V (min = +0.60 V, max = +1.20 V)
acpitz-acpi-0
Adapter: ACPI interface
temp1: +44.0°C
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Package id 0: +42.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 0: +42.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 1: +42.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
As you can see, my fan is not detected at all.
Whereas when I run, `sudo dmidecode`, fan is detected as a cooling device:
# dmidecode 3.2

Troubleshooting tips and a few forum posts suggest installing extra drivers/applications for a few brands. However, there is no such known requirements for a HP Laptop.
I did find NBFC listed as a recommended tool for controlling fan speed. I tried that in the hopes, I can get my fan running.
WHile running a game, I monitored the fan status on two seperate occasions:
Here's the first one for `nbfc status`:
Service enabled : True
Read-only : False
Selected config name : HP ENVY m6 Sleekbook
Temperature : 41
Fan display name : Fan #1
Auto control enabled : True
Critical mode enabled : False
Current fan speed : -215.38
Target fan speed : 0.00
Fan speed steps : 13
Here's the second one:
Service enabled : True
Read-only : False
Selected config name : HP ENVY m6 Sleekbook
Temperature : 68
Fan display name : Fan #1
Auto control enabled : True
Critical mode enabled : False
Current fan speed : -215.38
Target fan speed : 70.00
Fan speed steps : 13
fancontrol-gui gives the error message that no pwm capable fans are found in my system.
Also, I seem to have no kernel module for fan, as indicated by the output for ` ls -l /usr/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/acpi
`:

Here's `uname -a` in case it's useful:
Linux tardigrade 5.2.9-arch1-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Aug 16 11:29:43 UTC 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I'm quite lost on what I can do get the fan working.
Offline
Most laptops do not allow you fan control from the OS, this is an intentional measure. They are controlled as needed by your EFI firmware. from the sensors output you are absolutely within normal temperature limits, so just from that there's nothing inherently wrong right now. Reproduce a "dangerous" situation repost the sensors as well as
dmesg
output
As such if they are actually not running, doing a EFI firmware update might help.
