exec startkdeI've tried uninstalling sddm and reinstalling it along with sddm-kcm but it just continues to boot to a black screen.
When I disable (via systemctl) sddm, my TTY1 shows:
Starting version 242.84-2-arch
/dev/nvme0n1p2: clean, 275991/29130752 files, 4514142/116506880 blocks
_The underscore has been blinking on TTY1 since last night.

Which hardware?
In general this does read like the early boot entropy issue, try hammering random buttons, if that helps and lscpu | grep rdrand gives you output add
random.trust_cpu=onto your kernel parameters, otherwise install and enable haveged

Just tried hammering on keyboard and editing kernel params. Also tried haveged. nothing works.

Please boot the system using live media, chroot in and post the journal from the last stuck boot.
Offline
It's not a stuck boot. I just have to go to TTY2, login, and startx. I've already posted the journal.
Offline
In which post?
Offline
You did not post the journal nor information about the hardware, post your journal and information on the hardware you are trying this on. Other alternatives, though we have insufficient data on whether you properly enabled haveged or edited the kernel parameters, would be an issue with early modesetting, but we could clear most doubts with an actual log
Offline
Post the full jounal and the output of `systemctl list-unit-files --state=enabled`

Oops sorry thought I posted it. Journal is way too long so I grepped sddm. Note that I did a reboot (telinit 6) at 12:23:

I found the solution. I needed to follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … us#LightDM.
