Hello. I have i3wm and my monitor resolution is 1024x768.
I would like to change the size of the GTK file selection to (800, 600), but when executing the command:
$ gsettings set org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser window-size '(800, 600)'and the opening of the gtk file chooser, the size remains default, that is, for 1920x1080:
$ gsettings get org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser window-size.
(1124, 822)I don’t understand why this is happening. I tried to register the gtk2 config:
$ cat ~/.config/gtk-2.0/gtkfilechooser.ini
[Filechooser Settings]
LocationMode = path-bar
ShowHidden = false
ShowSizeColumn = true
GeometryX = 50
GeometryY = 50
GeometryWidth = 800
GeometryHeight = 600
SortColumn = name
SortOrder = ascending
StartupMode = recentBut the result remains the same.
Help please
.

Your window manager is what ultimately defines your window size, so adjust that there: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/I3 … ng_dialogs
FWIW this thread mentions that there might be conflicts with the GDK_SCALE env set.
And just in case, these gsettings commands will also not be consistent if you have a broken session, if you use startx, ensure your xinitrc is properly set up, note the second blue box

Thanks! I solved this problem by manually editing the window size gtk file chooser ![]()
