[SOLVED] How to enable xorg extensions?

I need xorg DBE for this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … flickering

here is the output from

grep LoadModule /var/log/Xorg.0.log
[ 198.097] (II) LoadModule: "glx"
[ 198.099] (II) LoadModule: "radeon"
[ 198.141] (II) LoadModule: "ati"
[ 198.142] (II) LoadModule: "modesetting"
[ 198.142] (II) LoadModule: "fbdev"
[ 198.143] (II) LoadModule: "vesa"
[ 198.167] (II) LoadModule: "fb"
[ 198.180] (II) LoadModule: "dri2"
[ 199.386] (II) LoadModule: "glamoregl"
[ 199.642] (II) LoadModule: "ramdac"
[ 200.304] (II) LoadModule: "libinput"

How do i get DBE loaded, i don't have it in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/
I can't find any documentation on this, please post a link if this was already questioned or if there is an arch wiki page explaining this

Re: [SOLVED] How to enable xorg extensions?

I figured it out!
First, you create a file, its name doesn't matter, but it should end in .conf:

 nano modules.conf

you can replace nano with any other text editor, even a graphical one.
Place the following into the file:

Section "Module"
    Load "dbe"
EndSection

it is important to respect the indentation, and if you want to load any other module you just create another line with

 Load "(any module here)"

Glad to hear, however next time you want a thread moved, report it so a mod (i.e. me) doesn't have to clean up abandoned posts.

Re: [SOLVED] How to enable xorg extensions?

That's actually what the wiki says how to load it, but I assume you had loaded it before (thus the grep) anyway.
I'm not aware that Xorg cares about whitespace in the config, ie. the indention is supposingly irrelevant.

I'd suspect libxext would be responsible for extra modules but you're correct in that there is a serious lack of information on this. Both in documentation for that package as well as Xorg and Conky pages on the wiki.
