[Fixed]Very weird behavior with middle click inside any terminal

Hi to all , and thanks in advance for your help

I've been really struggling to fix this weird problem ,

when i try to select some text on Firefox and paste it in any terminal with my mouse middle click it just close the terminal , the behavior is the same if i try to use ctrl+shit+v ( i tried witrh kitty , ST , rxvt same problem)...

The weird thing is that its not doing it all the time , I'm very confused with that problem if anybody could help i would be grateful.

Thanks a lot.

Could it be related to your Desktop environment? Maybe there's a DE setting in there somewhere affecting at least a couple of those buttons that's interfering. Do shift v or ctrl v on their own do anything strange? Something in your terminal app maybe? What DE and terminal do you use?

Otherwise are you using some kind of programmable mouse or keyboard? If so you can try libratbag (and optionally Piper) to have a look at mouse shortcuts and see what's up there.

Re: [Fixed]Very weird behavior with middle click inside any terminal

Hello and thanks for helping me ,

so it doesn't seems to be related to a DE , i tried on both my main wm dwm and on Gnome same behavior ..:(

ctrl +shift +v also shut the terminal it doesn't do that in any other application only the terminal.

i'm not sure i have a corsair gaming mouse and a G450 mechanical keyboard from Logitech

i tried on 3 different terminal , kitty , ST , and xrvt exact same behavior ...which made me think that it is not related to the terminal itself..

Thanks a lot again i will try libratbag.

When it happens, check the actual content of the selection, e.g.

xsel | hexdump

Could there be an EOF or some other terminating character that would end the shell session?

Re: [Fixed]Very weird behavior with middle click inside any terminal

Rin it instead of clicking into the window.
Chances are that there's some excape codes or control commands that terminate the shell (inside the terminal) what closes the terminal (just as if you had entered "exit" or "ctrl+d")

Re: [Fixed]Very weird behavior with middle click inside any terminal

No surprise.  An exceedingly vast majority of ridiculous and horrific problems that crop up under zsh are the direct result of that horrid "framework".  The lesson you took from it is sound: don't just copy-paste someone else's dot files, but more so than that, if you must copy/paste someone else's work, copy the work of a sane and competant person.

Grml is often seen as a less ridiculous alternative to OMZ.  I'd advocate for just building up your own configs yourself, but if you do need a boost, grml is at least reasonably well implemented.
