hey folks, Im converting over my old centos 6 server to arch linux and Dovecot is giving me fits..
Im following the instructions at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dovecot
and Ive set copied over the default dovecot files.. and edited the 10-ssl one with my certs..
Ive started up dovecot and it seems to start fine. I try to authenticate against the server with my thunderbird client and I see this in the logs..
Sep 20 18:04:48 archer dovecot[6469]: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts in 0 secs): user=<>, rip=10.9.1.252, lip=10.9.1.22, session=<MswvQgOT1uUKCQH8>
Sep 20 18:04:48 archer dovecot[6469]: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts in 0 secs): user=<>, rip=10.9.1.252, lip=10.9.1.22, session=<89wvQgOT1+UKCQH8>I just want to authenticate against local users, nothing fancy. Ive searched that error but I cant seem to find anything definite about how to fix it.
I see that my dovecot auth process is running as the dovecot user..
[root@archer dovecot]# ps auxw | grep dove
root 6467 0.0 0.0 4420 3272 ? Ss 18:03 0:00 /usr/bin/dovecot -F
dovecot 6468 0.0 0.0 4112 1040 ? S 18:03 0:00 dovecot/anvil
root 6469 0.0 0.0 4248 2704 ? S 18:03 0:00 dovecot/log
root 6470 0.0 0.0 6028 4124 ? S 18:03 0:00 dovecot/config
dovecot 6479 0.0 0.0 4132 1052 ? S 18:04 0:00 dovecot/stats
root 6497 0.0 0.0 6132 2228 pts/0 S+ 18:08 0:00 grep dove
dovecot 6501 0.5 0.0 18604 7388 ? S 18:10 0:00 dovecot/auth
[root@archer dovecot]# Ive seen that this can be a problem for certain kinds of authentication.. Im not sure if this is my issue, but I cant seem to get authentication of users working..
suggestions?
