[SOLVED] Odd X behavior when running as virtualbox guest

I'm trying to run an Arch VM inside of virtualbox. It boots and I can load into X and exit without error but the screen is completely messed up. See https://imgur.com/a/Ni4Y5XH where the vm is running openbox to see what I mean. I've installed virtualbox-guest-utils, virtualbox-guest-modules-arch and xf86-video-vmware. Really lost as to what to do about this, especially since there are no errors reported in the x log file.

How many font packages did you install?

Ah, that was the issue. I'm still getting unfortunate behavior with pango's new lack of bitmap support but I can work with this now.
