Screen turning black every 10 minutes

Hi,

it may be a coincidence, but after switching from a DVI connected FHD monitor to a HDMI connected 4k monitor the screen is turning black every 10 minutes or so for about 5 to 10 seconds. It usually happens when there is no activity, but it also has happend randomly and seldom when I was typing or clicking around. I don't have screensaver installed and I've not configured energy management to turn of the screen or something like that. It happens in XFCE and KDE Plasma, but not when using windows 10.
How can I track this down?

Re: Screen turning black every 10 minutes

every 10 minutes or so

Can you measure whether it's a static frequency?

Try to lower the resolution, ie. drive the output at FullHD or WUXGA and see whether this still happens.
Also: cable, it's always the cable ;-)

Are there any adapters involved?

Edit: also what GPU/X11 driver?

No, can't confirm an exact interval. Also tried another cable, but as I said, it didn't happen when using windows, so an hardware issue seems unlikely. The driver is amdgpu, the graphics card is an AMD RX 580.

Re: Screen turning black every 10 minutes

Also xf86-video-amdgpu?
Did you try a lower resolution.

Another test would be to pass "amdgpu.dc=0 amdgpu.audio=0 amdgpu.dpm=0 amdgpu.aspm=0 amdgpu.runpm=0 amdgpu.bapm=0" to the kernel and see whether that has some impact.

Re: Screen turning black every 10 minutes

I'm sorry to report that I wasted your time. It was an hardware issue. Changed the card to another RX 580, problem is gone. Thanks for the support!
