Well, for a start you're running random shit with sudo. Don't do that.

Next, show us the permissions of /home/iulian/HDD

ls -la /home/iulian/HDD

Mobo: MSI MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX // Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X @4.9GHz // GFX: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT // RAM: 32GB (4x 8GB) Corsair DDR4 (@ 3000MHz) // Storage: 1x 3TB HDD, 6x 1TB SSD, 2x 120GB SSD, 1x 275GB M2 SSD

Re: [SOLVED]HDD ownership

i just solved it by doing this

# Static information about the filesystems.
# See fstab(5) for details.

# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
# /dev/sda2
UUID=25d66f24-3779-4565-8a3d-74d12040ea14	/         	ext4      	rw,relatime	0 1
#/dev/sdb1
UUID=68CF38860D525ACD				/mnt/HDD	ntfs-3g		defaults,uid=1000,gid=1000	0 0

Re: [SOLVED]HDD ownership

Unless there's something you'r not telling us, changing the mount options for /mnt/HDD shouldn't affect the permissions on /home/iulian/HDD..

We have no idea why, but I'm pretty sure we know the what: /home/iulian/HDD is a symlink to /mnt/HDD, right?  Or maybe a hardlink, or a bind mount, or something.  That's the thing you didn't tell us.

Re: [SOLVED]HDD ownership

Well, from what you've told us about the solution, I guess that /home/iulian/HDD is a symlink pointing to /mnt/HDD, which is why changing the mount options to a seemingly unrelated location fixed it. The output of ls would have told us about this symlink, or you could've included this information in your first post.
