[SOLVED] Canon LiDe scanner no longer working.

Aight so I have this Canon LiDe flatbed scanner on top of my wardrobe and I wanted to scan a texture to put in blender.

When I launched Simple Scan it detected a Canon LiDe 35/40/50 scanner and when I clicked "Scan"
an error came up saying

Unable to connect to scanner

I installed xsane and tried that but an error came up while scanning for scanners that said

Failed to open device 'genesys:libusb:001:003': Invalid argument.

I ran 'scanimage-L'

device `genesys:libusb:001:003' is a Canon LiDE 35/40/50 flatbed scanner

and 'sudo sane-find-scanner'

found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x2213 [CanoScan], chip=GL842) at libusb:001:003

Edit: I should mention that the scanner did work before. My PC is the only PC in the house with Linux and it was the only PC the scanner worked on.
Not sure when it stopped working.

Edit no.2: Learned how to format

Re: [SOLVED] Canon LiDe scanner no longer working.

What is the output of

$ lsusb -tv
$ scanimage --device "genesys:libusb:001:003" --format=tiff > test.tiff
$ scanimage -A

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

'lsusb -tv' relevant section

/:  Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/10p, 480M

'scanimage --device...'

'scanimage -A'

Output format is not set, using pnm as a default.
scanimage: open of device genesys:libusb:001:007 failed: Invalid argument

Edit: noticed after looking at the 'scanimage -A' output that the device changed. I tried with the different name but the output is the same.

scanimage: open of device genesys:libusb:001:007 failed: Invalid argument

Re: [SOLVED] Canon LiDe scanner no longer working.

Problem could be with the xhci kernel module, Check https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SA … er_models)

You're already using USB2 , but there are other options.

Downgrading sane from 1.0.28 to 1.0.27 fixed the issue, thanks lads!

I think the 1.0.27 doesn't work properly either. The calibration process seems broken. Static lines/shadows don't get fixed. I hope they will fix it soon.
