Battery dead after playing a game on battery with nvidia-xrun?

Hi guys!

I bought a Dell 7567 which is a gaming laptop with about 8 hours of battery with light usage and about 3-4 hours of gaming about a year ago. 95% of the time i play on charger.

Yesterday i decided to play game on battery using nvidia-xrun (the dedicated nvidia card on this optimus laptop) and the laptop shutdown after about 1 hour of gameplay.

Checking the bios it says the battery needs to be replaced and it is not charging.

Why would this happen? I Know batteries wear but i noticed each time i played with nvidia-xrun on my i3 status bar it always showed the status Unknown and a lower percentage than 100% , even though my laptop was always on charger.

Is it possible nvidia-xrun fried my battery? I remember playing on windows when i frist bought it and didn't have this issue, even though the laptop was even hotter on windows.

Is it possible this could be a wrong read? And somehow be fixed without replacing?

A combination of high-ish temperature and full charge can wear down batteries very fast.
