I just wanted to know if I'd be looking at potential issues if I decide to install both tlp and mate-power-manager together.
I've been seeing a lot of suggestions to use tlp on laptops (which is what I'm running arch on). But I like mate-power-manager's GUI for quickly changing display and turn-off/sleep/hibernate timeouts.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see anything in tlp's doc about configuring things like "turn off display after X minutes" or "Put to sleep after X minutes". That's exactly why I installed mate-power-manager.
I'd really like to have them both installed but wanted to know if anyone else had tried that and whether I'd be looking at problems from the two of them conflicting.

Usually the desktop utilities and TLP complement each other. TLP does not do anything with sleep timers and will simply adjust relevant kernel knobs, that the power management tools in turn do not touch.
I don't have direct hands on experience with mate's offering but I doubt it to be much different to KDE or GNOME, so no there should not be any issues in that regard.
