I have *.desktop files on my Desktop directory to launch applications. I used to be able to click on them and the application would run automatically. But now when I click on the any of them, I get a prompt asking me if I want to open or execute the file. I am given the option with a checkbox 'Don't ask again' but if I do so then all my other scripts, i.e. bash, launches automatically as well when clicked which is not the behaviour I want. I just want the .desktop scripts to automatically launch and not the others.
How can I revert back to them launching automatically? I'm sure it's just somewhere in the KDE configuration but I have no clue which handles this event.

No clue, but this looks promising: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=224&t=129445

Thanks Swiggles. I came accross this already. But that's the issue. If I set ~/.config/kiorc to:
[Executable scripts]
behaviorOnLaunch=executeIt launches all scripts, not just .desktop scripts automatically which is not the behaviour intended.
The .desktop scripts in laptop works OK but I'm not sure why in my desktop they don't.
