Mailnag stops checking for new mail.

Hi All,

Mailnag seems to have stopped checking for new mail. If I restart mailnag from the terminal it will start checking again. It seems to check approximately every 10 minutes. But after a close that laptop and let the system sleep for some time, when I wake it up again I am not notified of new mail. If I check using the below journal command I see that the last time it checked for mail was just before I put the computer to sleep. In the example below I closed the laptop just after 5:00 AM and opened it at 10:00 AM. The last time Mailnag checked for new mail was 5:07 AM. Any thoughts on why it stops checking for new mail?

[user@XPS13 ~]$ journalctl -b _COMM=mailnag

Re: Mailnag stops checking for new mail.

It looks like it's a known open bug.

Re: Mailnag stops checking for new mail.

I wonder if this is due to some changes with something mailnag is dependent on or is it a glitch introduced in the latest version of mailing? In other words, could I downgrade the package to fix this issue? Looks like the issue has existed for a few months. Thanks for the link.

Re: Mailnag stops checking for new mail.

Why wonder.  Test.

Downgrading seems like a wise diagnostic step.

Re: Mailnag stops checking for new mail.

Doesn't seem to be a version older than 1.3.0. or I don't know where to find it.

Re: Mailnag stops checking for new mail.

If it has "stopped" then that means you must've once installed a version that works? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Do … g_packages

Re: Mailnag stops checking for new mail.

Agreed, but the current version of mailnag has been in the repos since April, and it looks like that may have been the first inclusion of it in the repos.

So the question is, was mailnag previously working for you after a suspend?  Or had you previously just not been suspending your system to notice?  (In other words, are you confident the problem is new, or may it have been around unnoticed for a while?)

Re: Mailnag stops checking for new mail.

It has definitely worked as expected on previous installations and on previous machines I have used. I don't know how long the issue has been there before I noticed the problem. So mailing definitely used to work but I'm not sure if it stopped working since the upgrade to 1.3.0 or if it broke after that. I might pull and old laptop out of mothballs and install a different distro just to test mailnag.
