Re: Plymouth only 3 dots

Try adding i915 to your MODULES= array so that KMS is employed early.

After it plymouth works but after the plymouth disappears the screen gets stuck at"Loading Linux linux" It won't go further.

It seems even worse.
What should i do

Re: Plymouth only 3 dots

Post a journal log, you might have issues with entropy regardless, in which case you might want to install and enable haveged. (Check whether boot continues if you press buttons... If that helps it's an entropy issue and you will want to install and enable haveged)

The failed boot didn't give a journal log. (EDIT: there is a log. See below)

And the boot didn't continue whatever I do.

Perhaps even systemd isnt launched successfully.

This is i915 mod setting

Re: Plymouth only 3 dots

I've reinstalled arch linux and met with the same problem.
Once again I switched on i915, and it still hangs up. But I noticed one thing: _If_ I press the down key, it gets stuck at "[OK] xxx" instead of "Loading Linux linux".
This means that systemd is successfully loaded.
Noticing that this is the non-git version, I tried to replace "plymouth" in mkinitcpio with "systemd sd-plymouth". Then the computer gets stuck even when I remove the "splash" boot arg.
I'm totally confused.
Current mkinitcpio.conf:

# vim:set ft=sh
# MODULES
# The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
# run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
# in this array. For instance:
# MODULES=(piix ide_disk reiserfs)

upd: after i deleted udev, it seems to work, but it's quite unstable. Sometimes the splash screen shows but the login screen doesn't show. Sometimes the splash screen doesn't show but the login screen shows.

Maybe solved.
upd2: If i press the down key, it works. If not, it doesn't work. It's not solved at all.

Re: Plymouth only 3 dots

I noticed something after reading Plymouth debug.
Plymouth tried to load the spinner theme before switching root, even though I've changed the theme and spinner is no longer present in initrd. This could explain why it worked the first time, but stopped working properly after some tweaks.
But switching back to spinner doesn't get it working. Same as above.
It's far too confusing.

Re: Plymouth only 3 dots

I had issues with plymouth not rendering. Installing plymouth-git solved the problem, Give it a try.
