Hi guys,
Did a system upgrade and now evince (3.34.0-1) has gone crazy.
Zooming in and out changes the characters displayed in a chaotic fashion.
Here's what my document looks like in mupdf

And here are evince's attempts at rendering it.

Does that happen with all PDFs? Did you try launching it from the terminal and seeing if it throws any errors, either before or after opening a document?
If you can't figure it out, it might just be bug related. You might want to check and/or file a bugreport: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/issues

Looks like some messed-up glyph cache.
Is poppler in the updates? Pango?

Its a cairo bug that has been reported upstream: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/cairo/cairo/issues/376
Until it's fixed, you can either downgrade cairo or rebuild a version without the broken commit reported in that bug
