[SOLVED] All videos lagging

Hello,
Any video I try to watch will freeze for 1 second every 5 seconds or so but the audio works fine.
This happens in youtube even at 144p resolution. Also in VLC or any other program to play videos.
It doesn't matter if I use intel discrete graphics or Nvidia, I get the same problem.

Re: [SOLVED] All videos lagging

Welcome to the arch linux forums elketoz.  You have not provided a journal output or Xorg.log if the system uses X.
Exact details of the system's GPUs and their configuration.  If the issue has always been present since system creation or was introduced by some update.
What you have tried to resolve the issue so far.  I would suggest reading http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Re: [SOLVED] All videos lagging

I use optimus-manager to switch from intel to Nvidia graphics.I use cinnamon desktop and Xorg server. This problem is happening since I installed arch linux.
I have no idea why this is happening. So I haven't done anything to fix it.

Here's Xorg.log:

Re: [SOLVED] All videos lagging

Does uninstalling the package xf86-video-intel affect the issue?

I just tried and it didn't help.

Re: [SOLVED] All videos lagging

That's not a journal

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'f:1=<-' ix.io

- post the link you receive.

Also check the CPU load when playing videos and, most importantly, try an openbox session - this could be the an issue in the muffin compositor.
If this works, try to disable DRI3, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … RI3_issues

CPU load is normal (it never goes above 30-40%). On the other hand I tried openbox and the problem dissapeared!.
I tried to disable DRI3 but the problem persisted in cinnamon. (This shouldn't mather though? I mean since I get the same problem using Nvidia)

And here's the link:

thanks a lot for the help, guys. I appreaciate it a lot.

Depending on how exactly the nvidia chip is invoked the image will most likely have to traverse the intel chip as well.

On the other hand I tried openbox and the problem dissapeared!

So it's about cinnamon or (maybe more specifically) muffin.

Try to create a new user account: same problem?

Re: [SOLVED] All videos lagging

I tried creating a new account and the problem dissapeared. So I started checking the small changes I did after installing arch/cinnamon.
One of those changes was a simple applet to see CPU temperature. And after removing it the problem was gone!

I feel so stupid for not checking this before. Anyway, thanks to everyone, specially Seth!
