[SOLVED] Changing GTK theme with config file

Hello all,
beforehand, I am running an Arch Linux installation with i3wm.
Now, I recently wanted to change my GTK and icon theme, so I downloaded a new theme (Arc Darker)

 arc-gtk-theme arc-icon-theme

but then I could not find out how I would apply it. In the end I downloaded

 lxappearance

to set the new GTK and icon theme. However, I did not find that satisfactory in a sense, that I assume I could do that by manipulating a config file instead of relying on a program to do that for me.
So I turn to you to ask if anyone could direct me to the right config file to apply the GTK and icon themes.
Thanks smile
