I've had LUKS on LVM for about a year without issues (both home and root encrypted). 2 days ago I pacman -Syu'd, rebooted, aaaand:
mount: /new_root: no filesystem type specified.
You are now being dropped into an emergency shell.
sh: can't access tty; job control turned off.(I can't type on the emergency shell for some reason.)
I boot from USB, cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/vg0/root root gives: "No key available for this passphrase."
The passphrase is correct, but I only know how to type it from muscle memory. And because I have a German keyboard I wrote a script to try every possible US/DE key variation, on both volumes. Still: "No key available for this passphrase."
It doesn't seem like the LUKS headers are corrupted. All --verbose, --debug, etc. looks okay. Only "no key available for this passphrase".
I reboot every few weeks and was always able to decrypt it with the passphrase. I am dumbfounded. :(
