Greetings,

Would anyone have an idea about my issue trying to load Arch, this appears right after the grub boot loader after I select this OS, I get this screen and it just stops here.

some commands tried during this install:
pacman -Syy amd-ucode
pacman -S os-prober

My system: (is a dual boot install was done on a new partition with its own swap and boot and home ext4 partitions)
Vendor ID:           AuthenticAMD
CPU family:          23
Model:               24
Model name:          AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with Radeon Vega Graphics

Base Board Information
        Manufacturer: ASRock
        Product Name: A300M-STX

if above link does not work the image shows my desktop displaying the ISO version number and a second line showing dev/sda5: clean, with file numbers, blocks

Re: after Grub I get this odd screen

What is supposed to boot? A terminal? A display manager? There have been some reports with older microcodes and/or even firmware issues. Check whether there's a firmware/EFI update for your motherboard.

You mention installing amd-ucode, but did you configure your boot loader as well? Or in case of GRUB you might've to at least generate the config again.

Re: after Grub I get this odd screen

I have a feeling its what you mentioned about the configuration of the boot loader I think I have to look at this closer.

I was thinking a root terminal of Arch would boot or the minimal desktop not sure since its the first time for me doing this. But if firmware/EFI is the same as a new BIOS flash? then I think I am up to date as far as I can tell since I did look at that.

Re: after Grub I get this odd screen

And because it happens often enough recently, you will want to explicitly install linux-firmware if you hadn't yet done that from the chroot, it isn't a required package of base nor the kernel packages anymore (e.g. virtual machines/containers don't need the hard dep)

Re: after Grub I get this odd screen

This was a bear to finally get working on my system. One issue I had was the boot process did not find vmlinuz-linux so I had to do that arch-chroot and then cd into /boot then do pacman -S linux to install; Honestly I did so many things to get it to boot I feel lucky right now. I also installed LXDE and so far so good with that, looks dated but its simple and works so kind of like it.

But one item I would like to fix would be how to setup a dual boot selection during the boot process; I have another Linux distro loaded as well.
