Breeze randomly switches to the dark variant, but only partially

After updating and rebooting, Breeze randomly replaces buttons and other elements with the dark variant (but only sometimes), and it seems to cycle between some weird kind of switching or not switching after every refresh.

These are all screenshots of the same page, just refreshing and taking a new screenshots.

I'm using Cinnamon. Other icon packs like Adwaita are fine. I'd be willing to switch to a different one if you have any suggestions for clean-looking packs like Breeze.
