Well, I installed Arch when it was in the 0.7.2 version, and now, even though I check for upgrades almost every day, the terminal login prompt still says Arch Linus 0.7.2 (Gimmick). Is this a mistake, are you maintaining different lines of packages for each version (uhhh..... no), or am I missing something obvious?

That number would update with the initscripts package, afaik. Do you have the latest version of it?

well... the most obvious thing is that the latest release is still 0.7.2. :-) The name will be updated automatically when the next release is made. Even though you have more up-to-date packages than on the install CD, you're still technically running the Gimmick release.

FTR, though, you can change the file /etc/arch-release and get whatever release version you want. :-)

I knew somebody was going to say that. I don't know how but I knew it. *sigh*
