[SOLVED] usbutils package required?

Hi

The 'usbutils' package was recently removed from 'base'. From the Gentoo wiki I can gather that it provides the 'lsusb' command, which I never use (so far). In light of that, do I really need this package for everyday USB use? No hardware depends on it, right?

The kernel never depends on anything from userspace. So no, this is not inherently needed. lsusb is an useful diagnostic  tool however and should you ever ask for support many will assume it to be available.
