I'm using plain i3-gaps on top of Xorg as WM and a few XFCE components for daily use. I have a similar setup for both a Lenovo X1 gen6 (2019) and an Lenovo x250 (2015), both with Intel graphics. On the newer X1 only, I experience a lot of lags using the desktop, e.g. when scrolling in Firefox, when typing a text in signal-desktop-bin (Electron based), nvim-qt (QT based) and other applications. Not all are affected though, e.g. Chromium works fine. UEFI CPU settings are not configured towards power saving, neither on battery nor AC, and I don't have any significant power saving features active other than default settings.
Only when I enable compositing (which I would rather avoid), e.g. starting Compton, this behavior changes to normal. On the x250 I don't experience this behavior. Any suggestions what might cause this?
Thanks in advance,
Erik

Wow, seems like removing xf86-video-intel was exactly the solution. Didn't recognize that post to be related to my problem. Thanks!
