This is purely a question out of curiosity. My system is running fine and stable. It's just a get different readings of CPU temp from different applications.
sensors report:
Package id 0: +48.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 0: +46.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 1: +48.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 2: +45.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 3: +45.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)but i7z reports:
Core [core-id] :Actual Freq (Mult.) C0% Halt(C1)% C3 % C6 % C7 % Temp VCore
Core 1 [0]: 3943.73 (39.44x) 6.19 90.5 1.73 1 1 32 1.2949
Core 2 [1]: 4323.64 (43.24x) 2.78 5.4 1 19.8 70.9 32 1.3099
Core 3 [2]: 4488.57 (44.89x) 3.63 8.39 1.36 53.5 32.9 32 1.3049
Core 4 [3]: 4075.57 (40.76x) 2.41 9.51 1 19.1 68 31 1.3099Of course I'd like to believe i7z is the correct one!
Does anybody know why the difference? It's a massive difference of more than 10 degrees.

Maybe it's something to do with your particular hardware? What hardware and CPU are you using?
Presumably you are using the "coretemp-isa-0000" sensor for your sensors command?
For comparison, on the laptop I use with a i7-4702MQ CPU, sensors and i7z are within 1 degC of each other when looking at the "Core 0-3" lines in sensors. The "Package id 0:" is always 5-6 degC hotter.
Don't forget you can tweak sensors values manually (I've had to do this on a couple of Xeon systems in the past) - see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lm … and_tricks

I've got an Asrock Taichi Z270 motherboard and Kaby Lake i7 7770K and the command I use is write.
Thanks for leading me to the tweak. I wasn't aware of that.
