I have a prexisting install of windows 10 and ubuntu that is running soundly on my Alienware r2 2015.
I installed arch using a liveusb and managed to get it detected with grub after several attempts.
Laptop Config:
HDD1(sda) - data drive ntfs
SSD1(sdb) - Linux windows recovery EFI
SSD2(sdc) - swap arch
It is a clean install following the official install guide.
It is out of the box, so to speak and the ethernet is detected using ip link but its status is down.
If 'set' that to up. it still gives me the could not temporarily resolve dns when I try to ping anything except local host.
My installation has the bug closed in https://arcolinuxforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1174.
I was planning to build and test incrementally but I cant apply the fix cause of no internet.
I am desperately stuck without being able to connect to the internet.
I have tried a lot of things that didnt work, if you tell me which commands to run for debugging, I can post outputs.
(I have to pipe the output to a file and then I will have to switch os'es to paste it here! Got to love linux)

1. Please fix your title and remove the redundant "noobie problems": https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … ow_to_post
2. Read How To Ask Questions The Smart Way
3. Work your way methodically through the networking page on the wiki, that will at least help you think about 2.

What bug? It's a warning that can be safely ignored - the missing firmware will have no effect on your system.

thanks, I thought it was an error and I would have wasted hours.

I thought systemd.networkd would be installed by default. After installing network manager, I have a working ethernet.

It is installed by default, but not configured nor enabled by default, as most things in Arch Linux. Seeing as you are posting a link to an ArcoLinux thread, did you actually install Arch or Arcolinux?

I have installed arch linux, am I on the wrong thread? I am going to look at how to configure and enable it.

Unless you actually need either of those two modules loaded you are wasting your time, though it is worth researching (as some of us have done). Have you investigated what they are?
