issue with "man lsof | col -b > test"

Hi,
    I have a strange issue when I tried this command

 man lsof | col -b  > test
man: can't open ./00DIALECTS: No such file or directory
man: -:77: warning: failed .so request
troff: <standard input>:77: can't open './00DIALECTS': No such file or directory
 

Do you have the same issue ?  Is it a bug ? or I have an issue with laptop?

Okay, that is weird.
I even tried abusing the cat:

man lsof | col  -b | cat > test

Same thing. 

But man lsof | col -b works
So does man ls | col  -b > test

O_o

Even man lsof > test fails. This seems to be a man issue. Line 77 of the man page of lsof contais the descriptions for the -? and -h parameters. The line starts with white space and then comes a dash, which man complains about. Looks like the - is treated as a control character here. Might be an arbitrary code execution bug you've found there.
