[SOLVED] No Ethernet connection after rebooting post installation

So I've managed to install Arch on my laptop without major issues (or any issues at all), and an annoying thing occurred after I rebooted - my Ethernet connection wasn't working. It did work while booting Arch from USB and when doing all necessary things in arch-chroot environment.
My Ethernet card (Aquantia AQtion AQC107 10Gbit Network Adapter) seems to be properly recognised, module atlantic is loaded, the interface is up, but I cannot ping or download anything with pacman.

Anyone has any clue?

Have you done anything to enable networking? It doesn't start itself...

Well, according to Installation guide (Polski) Ethernet connection should be working out-of-the-box without any configuration, and it did until I rebooted.

Re: [SOLVED] No Ethernet connection after rebooting post installation

The live installation starts dhcp automatically, the installed system does not.  Just enable dhcp and it should work.

Did you install the net-tools and dhcpcd packages during installation?

None of the DHCP clients arch supplies require net-tools.

False.  It has the same caveats as the English guide:

Połącz się z Internetem
Note: Te zmiany dotyczą jedynie środowiska instalacyjnego i nie zostaną zapisane w docelowym systemie.
Połączenie przewodowe (kabel Ethernet)
Połączenie przewodowe (po kablu Ethernet) powinno działać bez dodatkowych czynności. Obraz instalacyjny uruchamia dhcpcd dla połączenia przewodowego. Możesz sprawdzić połączenie poleceniem:

# ping archlinux.org
Jeśli nie masz połączenia, zatrzymaj usługę dhcpcd poleceniem systemctl stop dhcpcd@, Tab i sprawdź stronę Network configuration.

Note, specifically, the initial and highlighted "Note".  Ethernet often works "out-of-the-box" in the live system, but not in the newly installed system that you rebooted into.
Then later:

Konfiguracja sieci
Aby skonfigurować połączenie z siecią na stałe zobacz Network configuration#Network management.

Nowo zainstalowany system nie ma żadnego połączenia z siecią uruchomionego domyślnie.

According to google translate, that last sentence is "The newly installed system has no network connection running by default."  This is why the sentence before that directs you to install and configure network management for the new system.

Re: [SOLVED] No Ethernet connection after rebooting post installation

One simple command did the trick

dhcpcd <interface>

Thanks for your effort.

Please read the wiki, carefully before posting. This sort of thing is absurdly well documented.

Re: [SOLVED] No Ethernet connection after rebooting post installation

Yes, until the system is restarted.

The Arch wiki is very vast and sometimes includes out-of-date or conflicting entries. If someone is trying to install Arch after couple years of using more user friendly distro on a new piece of hardware, asking on forums  is faster and easier way, than going through all those not always clear details. Especially when you're not even close to IT specialist.
And yes, I did read all the necessary wiki articles, but still not everything is clear to me.

I'm very grateful for all the help, but please, if the only reason for posting is to admonish new users about "reading wiki" or "asking proper questions", give yourself a break.

No: the critical pages are regularly updated.

Easier for you, but disrespectful of the community that has provided the wiki. Don't be a help vampire.

I posted for two reasons: to point out that your solution would not survive a reboot, and secondly to provide you with some helpful advice. Do not expect to have your hand held here, or to abuse the goodwill of the community. The sooner you learn that, the better - for you and for us.

Now I can see clearly I'm dealing with a "serial poster" - always want to have the last word, don't you? big_smile

No, you are dealing with a Forum Fellow (a retired Admin) who has tried to be helpful.
