Steam has to unpack runtime everytime it starts

Every time Steam starts up after a reboot or being manually closed, it pops up a dialogue saying "Unpacking Steam runtime". After that, it takes about a minute to boot up. Nothing else seems to be wrong with it, so I'm not really sure what this is about.

How are you starting steam? (STEAM_RUNTIME=1?)
Also when you open steam on the top left corner menu you can check for updates, make sure there are no pending updates to install

I'm just running

steam

in

/usr/bin

I'm not sure how I would set STEAM_RUNTIME.

Also, Steam has no pending updates.

Re: Steam has to unpack runtime everytime it starts

You can use

  /usr/bin/steam-native

or

 env STEAM_RUNTIME=0 steam

This can cause issues with some games though, read Steam_runtime

I don't think I want to disable the runtime though. I just don't want it to have to unpack every time it starts.
