plasma won't start with wayland

Hi,

I've installed plasma with wayland on my system with: plasma-wayland-session but when I want to start it, my screen goes blank and then only shows

[   OK   ]MD array monitor

and nothing else and I it won't even let me switch to another shell anymore but I instead need to login by ssh to reboot the system - what's going on here? I've got a wayland plasma install working just fine on my laptop... does anyone know further here?

1. Not an Installation issue.
