Xfce desktop freezes on initiating AutoKey shortcut

Hi,

I am using AutoKey from the AUR repository (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/autokey/) with my Xfce desktop. I have the shortcut to display the AutoKey menu as <control>+<space> (I think that is default).

Every now and again, around the fourth of fifth time, that I use the shortcut my desktop freezes. I can move the mouse, and I can navigate through windows using the keyboard, but I can't click any desktop objects or windows to as to open, close, resize, move etc.

I have had a look through the logs in /var/logs and can't see anything related to this been logged. This has been going on since I installed AutoKey some months ago, I have reinstalled since then.

What should I do next to diagnose this problem?

Thanks

Hey,

It's not that relevant but nowadays with systemd, a bunch of logs end up in binary form, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Systemd/Journal

Anyway, to try and get meaningful logs, instead of using your shortcut and hopping to get some logs, you can start that application from a terminal with the verbose flag, this is basically asking the application to give you more logs.
It's also a good idea to have a look at the bugtracker, where you might find similar issues: https://github.com/autokey/autokey/issues
This application also have an irc channel on freenode which is indicated on it's github page, that could also be a great way to help you.

Have a good day!

Carefully explaining your problem is half the solution.
