[SOLVED]Very slow boot time after ASUS BIOS update (1404)

Hi all,

I updated the bios from 1201 to 1404 on my ROG Strix X570-E Gaming and now it takes over 30 seconds for the system to post and then around 7 minutes for the GRUB menu to show. This is with fast boot enabled in the bios; if I disable fast boot, I get stuck at loading initial ramdisk.

> $ systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 6min 47.608s (firmware) + 3.534s (loader) + 8.156s (kernel) + 2.219s (userspace) = 7min 1.519s
graphical.target reached after 2.219s in userspace

My specs:

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
ROG Strix X570-E Gaming
G.SKILL 16GB 3200MHz Flare X Black Ryzen CL14 (2x8GB) x 2 (4sticks 32GB total ram)
Samsung 500GB M.2 PCIe NVMe 970 EVO Plus
Seasonic Focus Plus 750W 80 Plus Gold

Tried various options in the BIOS like loading safe defaults etc but can't seem to nail this one down.

Thanks for any pointers,

ok, after surgically removing each and every component and putting them back one by one it turns out the dedicated sound blaster PCI-E soundcard was the problem. Not being able to use the new ae-7 sucks but that's better than a 7 minute long boot time.
