What has happened?
Window decorations - shadows around windows - have disappeared. Not coming back regardless of settings in Breeze decorations - any size, strength and colour - no shadows around...
I am updating my system almost everyday, I don't remember when exactly it happened.
I am running nvidia-390xx driver. Everything else seems to be working properly...
Can anybody give me a hint?...

Apparently the Compositor has crashed.
I have visited System Settings under Display and Monitor > Compositor, cleared message about the compositor crash, changed the OpenGL engine from 3.1 to 2.0, applied, then back to 3.1, and applied.
Shadows are back.
