[SOLVED]I'm unable to Verify the settings for VA-API&VDPAU(Intel+AMD)

I'm unable to Verify the settings for VA-API & VDPAU by running vainfo and vdpauinfo
Even though I have installed the proper drivers. can any one advise me where I'm missing?

Here are error responses for VA-API & VDPAU commands:

[kk@k ~]$ vainfo
vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit

[kk@k ~]$ vdpauinfo
display: :0   screen: 0
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_i965.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Error creating VDPAU device: 1

Here Is additional log that I'm thinking will help reviewer:

Re: [SOLVED]I'm unable to Verify the settings for VA-API&VDPAU(Intel+AMD)

You need to install libva-intel-driver. There is no native VDPAU driver for Intel, so you should only use or configure your software for VA-API.

For the ATI/AMD additional display, VA-API and VDPAU are supported through MESA drivers. You will need the following packages.

libva-mesa-driver
mesa-vdpau

However, I have no experience in Intel/AMD dual-graphics in mobile setup. I don't know if switchable graphics solution would remain functional seamlessly with MESA drivers.

Thanks , vainfo is working fine after installing libva-intel-driver

[kk@k ~]$ vainfo

However vdpauinfo isn't working even after installing libva-mesa-driver & mesa-vdpau drivers.

Re: [SOLVED]I'm unable to Verify the settings for VA-API&VDPAU(Intel+AMD)

When you could get VA-API working, this is the best option for Intel hardware. VDPAU is not officially supported by Intel and it's an obsolete, past technology for video acceleration, except for NVIDIA hardware.
The libvdpau-va-gl is a very poor option. Most of the software today should have the configuration to use VA-API, and this is what you should be looking into.

Re: [SOLVED]I'm unable to Verify the settings for VA-API&VDPAU(Intel+AMD)

@liewkj But Radeon should work for VDPAU.

I have a dedicated Graphics card

03:00.0 Display controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Sun LE [Radeon HD 8550M / R5 M230]

As per my understanding VVAPI is for Integrated Intel Graphics card, and VDPAU is for Radeon.

To be frank I'm a little bit confused how OS uses Intel's Integrated graphic's card [Intel® Core™ i5-4258U CPU @ 2.40GHz × 4 , Intel Haswell Grapics] as well as dedicated Graphic card[Radeon HD 8550M / R5 M230)].

@Lupo Alberto
Indeed I tried it, still I'm getting the same error response

[kk@k ~]$ vdpauinfo

Your dedicated card is a display controller and hence not hooked up to your actual display and cannot really be used for the purposes of hardware accel. (You could try to use DRI_PRIME=1 and relevant hardware accel envs to force it over AMD though I am unsure of how well that will work, as you'd have to copy it over to the intel framebuffer regardless).

There are several options, check https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PRIME

As per my understanding VAAPI is for Integrated Intel Graphics card, and VDPAU is for Radeon.

Both VAAPI and VDPAU works on AMD hardware through MESA drivers. It is not necessary to get VDPAU working on Radeon. VAAPI works equally well if not better. In fact, VDPAU is less versatile due to its dependency of X11 binding. So VAAPI generally works better on modern Linux DE/WM based on Wayland.

I am never a believer in dual-graphics mobile setup. If I were an exclusive Windows or Mac user, then I wouldn't mind. Regardless of Intel/NVIDIA or Intel/AMD, the solution for Linux is always cumbersome from my point of view.

Thanks, by exporting DRI_PRIME=1 vdpauinfo is working.

Regardless of some igd with some discrete videoacrd , the solution for Linux is always cumbersome from my point of view.

I do agree with the conclusion, but felt the need to correct a few things.

Re: [SOLVED]I'm unable to Verify the settings for VA-API&VDPAU(Intel+AMD)

conclusion:
Finally  VAAPI and VDPAU are working fine on my Radeon(AMD) graphic card. All I did was adding "DRI_PRIME=1 and LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=radeonsi" lines in environment file.

sudo vim etc/environment

#
# This file is parsed by pam_env module
#
# Syntax: simple "KEY=VAL" pairs on separate lines
#
DRI_PRIME=1
LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=radeonsi
~

Here DRI_PRIME=1is to run VDPAU and LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=radeonsi to run VA-API on my discrete graphic card i.e Radeon.
