[SOLVED] Kernel mismatch after upgrade

Hello,

after performing a system update with pacman -Syu my outputs of uname -r and pacman -Q linux dont match anymore.

uname -r shows:

5.3.7-arch1-1-ARCH

while pacman -Q linux shows:

linux 5.3.13.1-1

This causes the system to not find any screens while booting. I can manually fix this by downgrading the Kernel to Version 5.3.7.arch1-1, but everytime i try to upgrade the Kernel i get the same problem again.

My /boot is mounted, as mount | grep /boot returns:

/dev/sda1 on /boot type ext4 (rw,relatime,data=ordered)

And the mkinitcpio is running without errors during the upgrade process:

Re: [SOLVED] Kernel mismatch after upgrade

How do you dual boot? By selecting the boot device in you BIOS/EFI menu?
I ask because your grub.cfg does not contain a chainloader entry for Windows.
The grub.cfg file looks fine. I suspect that there's something awry with your /boot partition.
Please provide:

# lsblk
# mount
# ls /boot
# umount /boot
# ls /boot

Re: [SOLVED] Kernel mismatch after upgrade

So, you installed the latest kernel onto your separate /boot partition, but actually boot the old kernel from /boot on your root file system.
You'll need to fix that.

Re: [SOLVED] Kernel mismatch after upgrade

Ok. I managed to fix everything and clean it up.

So if i understand correctly the problem was that i did not have the /boot partition mounted, when installing grub and writing its config, which is why it was located in /boot of the root partition?

Anyways thank you for your help schard!
