GNOME: location updated on VPN connection

I recently traveled to Boston from Seattle and enabled location services so automatic Date/Time would work.
After returning to Seattle it switched back correctly and I forgot about it.
This morning I connected to a VPN terminated in Boston and my clock was immediately switched to Eastern time. Doh!

I understand why it's happening but I'm wondering if there's a way to prevent Date/Time updates for VPN connections?

I ended up disabling "Automatic Time Zone" but disabling location services is a good idea too. I don't need it.
