Hi Folks,
Just ran pacman -Syu on remote server. pacman was able to get the update data required but when I agreed the installation (the bit after it assesses what needs to be done,
:: Proceed with installation? [Y/n] y
, the following errors arise for all enabled mirrors (4), reproduced here for the first only to save space:
:: Retrieving packages...
error: failed retrieving file 'libtasn1-4.14-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from archlinux.mirrors.ovh.net : The requested URL returned error: 404
error: failed retrieving file 'libtasn1-4.14-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from archlinux.mirrors.uk2.net : The requested URL returned error: 404
and the download aborts.
The package 'libtasn1-4.14-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' is about two thirds of the way down the list of packages to be updated or deleted so am I correct in gathering from this that it is the only package affected?
I looked at it under the Packages tab of this site and it was updated yesterday, but I see no other reports on the site of anything untoward with it.
Any suggestions please?
TIA,
Mike

You should get 4.15 if you aren't and you are actually running an -Syu then your top level mirror servers you outdated databases, fix your mirrors: archlinux.mirrors.uv2 seems to potentially have quite the delay.

Have you just tried running the update again? If it fails a second time, check/change your mirror.

Thanks to both. I just had a look around the pacman entries on the wiki but couldn't find anything explicit. Is it simply a case of deleting all in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and replacing them by copying and uncommenting entries from /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew?

The wiki page isn't explicit enough? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mirrors
Did you try running the update again without changing anything?

Thanks 2ManyDogs. That fixed it. I was searching under pacman, not mirrors!
And yes, I had already tried running the update twice before Inspector Parrot posted.
