If you want to use that font in dmenu, as you said in your initial post, none of what you are doing is relevant.

If you want to use the font in dwm's status bar, then the only things relevant are dwm's config.h, and yes, it needs to be recompiled every time that file is changed.

Xresources does not apply to either of these, and xdefaults is not used at all in your set up (unless you use urxvt, but that's tangential - but even there, why would you use both Xresource and Xdefaults??).

Your xinitrc is a total mess, read the wiki page on xinitrc: include the boilerplate requirements, remove the extranous 'execs' and defintely get rid of ck-launch-session.  Does that even work?  Where does the ck-launch-session binary on your system come from?

Also, if this is actually about dwm, not dmenu, post whatever is in that script you are using to run dwm.
