Re: antipatory io scheduler

When does the system hang? During the installation process or during the boot after installation?

Re: antipatory io scheduler

System specs might help better diagnose the problem. Please be as detailed as possible.

Re: antipatory io scheduler

He said that it hangs when registering the anticipatory IO scheduler.

Nebuchadenzzar: maybe you should try using a different IO scheduler than the default... Try adding

elevator=cfq

to /boot/grub/menu.lst.

Re: antipatory io scheduler

I am having the same problem, the Arch installer wont load. I have a SATA removable hard drive.

Re: antipatory io scheduler

Could you please provide further informations about any error messages, system specs, kind of installation (ftp, CD), etc? TIA

Haven't been here in a while. Still rocking Arch. smile

Re: antipatory io scheduler

There are no error messages, it simply hangs after the line mentioned above when the Arch installer image is loading. I am using the FTP-installer. I do not have the system specs as it isn't my computer, but like I said, the hard drive is a removable one which maybe uses some weird driver.

If this is happening when using the install cd, he should add that to the kernel command line instead of grub config.
