what the .. gmpc root rights?!?! [SOLVED]

errrrrr.... sry but ive got noo damn clue how that is possible:
im running gmpc here as music player (cvs version from AUR), and my whole music is stored in a music directory, sperated further to artists and albums and ALL is set to "root.root" with 644 permission. so only root should have write reads there or?! :?

the strange thing is: when i create a playlist (and i made shure that gmpc runs as my user detto !) i can save it and it gets stored into my music directory  hows that possible that it has write permissions there? :?  sad

Re: what the .. gmpc root rights?!?! [SOLVED]

You are sure that the directory itself and not only the files inside the directory are having correct permissions?

Haven't been here in a while. Still rocking Arch. smile

Re: what the .. gmpc root rights?!?! [SOLVED]

Is mpd running as root? The daemon handles the playlists, so it is possible to save them in a root-owned directory if the client has permissions to do so (check /etc/mpd.conf). The default permissions when no password is set allow saving of playlists.

Re: what the .. gmpc root rights?!?! [SOLVED]

*head against wall* roll

thx sh___ u pointed me in right direction, here the part from mpd.conf

# It is encouraged to run MPD as
# non-superuser. If you start mpd as root
# (for example, in an init script), set
# this value, then mpd will drop root priveleges
# and runs as the user specified.
#
#user "nobody"

think this will fix it lol

cheers,
detto
