Current State of the RX 5700XT on Arch Linux

Hello,

Since a couple of weeks ago I've got a new PC, but I've still held off installing Arch on it, because it seemed that it still has some problems with it.

Is everything working fine now since 5.4 or are there still problems with Navi 10? Is there anything special I have to take into account when setting up my System or is this wiki article everything I need to know?

I hope that I don't go against forum guidelines (first post here), but I haven't seen much news about 5700xt recently, so I guessed that it's ok to open a thread about it. Sorry in advance if it's not ok.

Re: Current State of the RX 5700XT on Arch Linux

I see the separate NAVI 10 wiki page has been merged to that one.

The section https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AM … perimental is not entirely accurate, but not many have the knowledge to correct it.
(I do, but haven't found time to change it yet).

Since arch switched to 5.4 the few issues with navi10 i've seen were caused by buggy firmwares (think motherboard manufacturers).

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

So I should stay off the experimental stuff until the section is fixed?

When the gpu works with the motherboard in windows there shouldn't be a problem, or can there still be firmware problems?

Start with the stable stuff from repos , lots of fixes have been moved from the development builds to stable builds already.
When you have issues, ask for help.

Many manufacturers rely on windows drivers to correct things, so yes there can be firmware problems even if windows works fine.
