Games connection keep dropping out while playing

Hi,

I've installed arch recently and i play League of Legends and Overwatch.

While playing, the internet connection lost for 4~5 seconds.  In same machine, with Linux Mint \ Ubuntu \ OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, this bug dont happen.

With manjaro, happens too.

I tested with another notebook on same connection, same game, and the internet only drops on my machine.

The down happens with a interval of 5 ~ 10 minutes.

I tested with LTS kernel and it happens too.

My Notebook:

Lenovo y530, i7

lspci:

Thanks for your help!

edit:  I use wireless, connected to a 5ghz connection

Re: Games connection keep dropping out while playing

What are you using to manage network connections / get an ip-address ?

post

systemctl list-unit-files --state=enabled

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

ystemctl list-unit-files --state=enabled
UNIT FILE                                  STATE
autovt@.service                            enabled
bluetooth.service                          enabled
cpupower.service                           enabled
dbus-org.bluez.service                     enabled
dbus-org.freedesktop.nm-dispatcher.service enabled
display-manager.service                    enabled
docker.service                             enabled
gdm.service                                enabled
getty@.service                             enabled
NetworkManager-dispatcher.service          enabled
NetworkManager-wait-online.service         enabled
NetworkManager.service                     enabled
remote-fs.target                           enabled
pamac-cleancache.timer                     enabled

14 unit files listed.

..

I've played for a while with the 2.4ghz wi-fi and the problem dont happen.

Maybe it is a Arch and 5ghz connection issue ?

07:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 31)

That's probably the network chipset you're using for wireless ?
lspci -k will tell you which kernel module is in use.
Compare that with the other distros, maybe they use another module.

Comparing kernel versions may also give a clue.

Re: Games connection keep dropping out while playing

Is there anything interesting in the journal at the time of the disconnect?

Can you post the output of iw phy  and of iw wlo1 info   (change wlo1 to the name of your wireless NIC if necessary)
also post the output of cat /proc/net/wireless

Re: Games connection keep dropping out while playing

I'm using:
Kernel driver in use: ath10k_pci
Kernel modules: ath10k_pci

I've tried LTS kernel, same problem.

cat /proc/net/wireless:

Inter-| sta-| Quality | Discarded packets | Missed | WE
face | tus | link level noise | nwid crypt frag retry misc | beacon | 22
wlp7s0: 0000 52. -58. -256 0 0 0 0 3 0

I don't have iw on my arch..

On journalctl, the warnings:
warn> [1576611980.3097] sup-iface: failed to cancel p2p connect: p2p cancel failed
<warn>  [1576613294.0595] dhcp6 (wlp7s0): request timed out
<warn>  [1576612607.6393] sup-iface[0x560069a33130,wlp7s0]: connection disconnected (reason 6)

Re: Games connection keep dropping out while playing

5 GHz has attenuation and reflection challenges that 2.4GHz does not have.  Assuming that information was gathered while on the 5GHz band (I cannot tell without the iw output), your link quality and signal strength stats are better than mine;  and I have a solid 290Mb/s up and down.  So, I don't think the problem is at the physical or data link level.  So, I won't suggest moving closer to the router.

That reason 6 is an indication your machine attempted to transmit before it was authenticated.  Not quite sure what to do with that tidbit.

I'll keep using 2.4GHz to games.  The ping is the same.  Maybe in some update it resolves.

Thanks for your time!
