touchscreen registers each click 4 times

Somewhere in the last two months something's gone wrong with the touchscreen on my HP x360 envy. It's most noticeable on webpages where scrolling no longer works but instead appears to select text. Logging out of my session, I was able to click on the screen to enter my username and get the gnome onscreen keyboard to appear. Typing in a single letter using the touchscreen keyboard causes it to appear four times. I'm not really sure where to begin to provide debugging information. Searching google and the wiki didn't get me any leads either. Anybody have some ideas on how to fix this?

Re: touchscreen registers each click 4 times

I believe that the default input driver has recently changed to libinput (from xf86-input-*) and perhaps it is configured improperly now. "Somewhere in the last two months" vaguely fits the interval for the migration.
