[SOLVED] Problem installing Brother MFC-L2730DW Printer

To install my Brother MFC-L2730DW Printer I made my own package based on this package.

The package I made was based on named package because for this printer, Brother did not make a separate LPR and cupswrapper driver. There is only one 'printer driver' file. So the wiki-page does not apply here.

This is the package that I made:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brother-mfc-l2730dw/

After installing (and even restarting), when I open up the printer settings and select my printer from the list (printersettings in GNOME) (it is connected to the same WiFi network). I still get an error that adding the printer failed. I get a pop-up that printer drivers are needed.

What is going wrong here? Is there something wrong with the package or do I need to take additional steps after installing it?

I think this problem has more to do with installing a driver, then with the correctness of the PKGBUILD or installing it. But never mind.

Re: [SOLVED] Problem installing Brother MFC-L2730DW Printer

[SOLUTION]

Indeed, it was no problem with the package. I just did not know how to proceed after installing the package. This is what has to be done:

First, start and enable CUPS:
sudo systemctl enable cups
sudo systemctl start cups

1. Open CUPS. This can be done by searching for 'Manage printing' in your DE. Or open http://localhost:631/.

2. Open the tab 'Administration' --> Add Printer

3. Select the printer you installed drivers for from 'Discovered Network Printers'

4. Configure name / sharing settings

5. Select the name of your printer in 'Model' list, and click 'Add Printer'

Now your printer should also be added in your regular printer settings.

I'd reckon this would work for any Brother printer with just one Printer Driver, and no separate LPR & cupswrapper driver. Maybe this would be handy on the wiki?
